Cyperus javanicus is a perennial plant with short rhizome. It is an erect, tufted plant with tall stems ranging 40-85cm in height. The flowers are large, straw-coloured and are in form of spikelets. It has a wide range of uses such as cultural significance, erosion control, hedge plant, medicinal ornamental, etc. It does well in dry coditions.
