Cyperus rotundus

Scientific Name - Cyperus rotundus
Common Name - Red Nut Sedge

Cyperus rotundus is a perennial, glossy- green sedge plant. It has a triangluar stem that branches into three stems of purple, antenna-like seedpods. Flower stalks rise from a common point giving it an umbel-like appearance and individual spikelets are reddish-purple to reddish-brown in color. It performs well in prefers warm weather and full sun conditions, but will grow in a diversity of sites and environments.
